Ribbon Christmas Tree Shirt

I saw the cutest ribbon Christmas tree shirt in a store the other day.  When I looked at the tag, it said $28.  Kate begged me to buy it, and I told her there was no way I was spending close to $30 on a shirt she could only wear a few times, and promised her that we would try to make our own.  I was going to sew the ribbon on the tee, but decided at the last minute to use Aleene's OK to wash it fabric glue instead.  I had all of these ribbon scraps in my ribbon drawer, and we used an old tee of Kate's for the experiment.  It took all of 5 minutes to make, an hour to dry, and I think it's much prettier than the one we saw at the store!

I think we are going to do one in pink, just for fun, but maybe try sewing some cute little stitches on this time, and maybe add some ric~rac too!  This would be super cute on a onesie!  Who knows, maybe we will stretch this idea a little further and see what we can come up with...any ideas?

Okay, now I have a HUGE favor to ask!

Super cute! I think you could add buttons for ornaments. I might just have to make one of these for Abby!

Adorable! I've tried using the Alene's, but the glue ends up showing through the top of whatever I'm glueing. Do you have any tips?

How cute! And SO much cheaper than spending $30!! I may have to try this with my niece.

This is just too cute! I'm not sure what the one in the store looked like, but I know it can't be as adorable as the one you made! It looks like she loves her new shirt; great job! I definitely like the buttons for ornaments that Jessica suggested. Maybe you could find some material to add gifts under the tree.

Thanks for sharing; LOVE this!

Happy Holidays,
Kate

Very cute!! I'm glad you didn't sew it, because I'm terrible at sewing, but seeing that you glued it, makes it look doable to me :) Thanks for sharing... I'm sure we have some white t-shirt with spots that need to be covered and this would be a win win :)

would stitch witchery work for the back instead of glue? just a thought, there is a hemming one that I think would work, and all you would have to do is iron and not have to wait for the shirt to dry :)
